WILD MEDICINE MAKING

In-Person Medicine Making in Central Portugal

Learning directly from the plants for 7 full days in Central Portugal. Each day will be different and with the weather & plants dictating what & how we engage. Most days will include a “herb walk”, wildcrafting and praticing 2 different medicine making techniques. We learn & practice how to collect wild plants in a sustainable manner and with respect for the land & its inhabitants.

The Wild Medicine program offeres an opportunity to gather in person for an immersive herbal course in Central Portugal. Our last sessions program was 7 full days of learning, spaced out over 8 months, with a break in August. The timeline allows participants to witness the transformation from Spring to Fall. This program is not theoretical, but designed for those who want to learn by being in the presence of living plants and making medicine.

We will focus on building deeper relationships with plants through the practices of identification, observing growth patterns, sustainable harvesting practices, and medicine-making techniques. We will also discuss how to apply them as safe & effective natural remedies.

Participants will be introduced to about 60 medicinal plants commonly found in Portugal as well as have the opportunity to make at least 7 medicinal preparations.  Over the course of the 7 days, you will learn hands-on how to collect responsibly, some identification skills, the botanical, English & Portuguese names for the plants, and various medicine-making techniques.
